Whether you are starting a brand from scratch or looking to expand an existing brand, our team and comprehensive service model can help bring your vision to life.

We aid boutique, designer, and private label brands from initial ideas to complete collections by providing guidance across the design, development, and production processes.

About Our Services

  • Our approach supports clients thoroughly, encompassing a complete cycle throughout the Design, Development, and Production processes. By advancing sequentially onto each step, we facilitate the ideal client experience bolstered by open communication, quantified progress, and inspired deliverables.

  • Branding refers to your logo, color palette, typography library, and asset specific usage rules relative to your brand and its unique aesthetic. If you have yet to create assets for your brand, or if your brand is in need of a refresh, ask us about Branding Services!

  • Materials can include but are not limited to any and all fabrics, trims, hardware, labels, tags and packaging. When sourcing, we consider not just practical application but also content, origin and demise. We prioritize working with local vendors, and happily recommend vendors for our clients in process whenever possible.

  • We offer “A La Carte'' consulting services, and embellishments - such as digital fabric printing, piece and garment dyeing, specialty dyes and washes, hand and machine embroidery, screen-printing, and more.

  • Our clients own all work produced by our team on their behalf. This includes but is not limited to any and all branding, sketches, patterns, samples, and tech packs.

About Our Values

  • Fashion and production is inherently based on consumption, and there is no perfect way to seek sustainability. When working with our clients, we believe in meeting each brand where they are by following a “good, better, best” approach. We guide our clients through actionable goals for immediate implementation and measurable improvements over time. Different brands have different goals. We’re here to meet and expand upon our clients' independently identified needs.

  • We engage in regular updates with our clients via pre-planned check-points. This allows all parties to levy expectations and produces a clear understanding of desired results. We use internal workflows to gauge progress and inspect for accuracy, all while treating each garment with care, consideration, and individuality.

  • We welcome questions from our clients each step of the way. We are always seeking to learn, and excited to share our findings with our clients and community!

  • Our team works directly with our community of skilled contractors throughout each phase in our process. We have an assembly of talented sample-makers, grader/markers, production cutters and stitchers with whom we’ve developed lasting and trusted relationships. Our contractors are always treated with respect, and operate relative to all California State Labor Laws.

  • Tolerance refers to the maximum amount for variation allowed in apparel production. This term can refer to garment measurements, material yields, or production deliverables. We take care to review our Service Agreements with clients before initiating each project, so all are aware of their respective responsibilities.

About Our Process

  • Small-batch production refers to any order of 500 units per style (UPS), or less. Our production services start with a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 25 UPS, with price breaks at 50, 100, 200, and 400 UPS. Restrictions for maximum number of sizes and colors vary across tiers.

  • We believe slow fashion means valuing the process just as much as its product. We put people first, including our team and community, taking pride in and holding appreciation for all work which contributes to creating our clothes. We respect the artistry of making, allowing grace for adjustment when needed.

  • Producing a style or collection takes careful planning and execution, and this journey is half the fun! We typically quote an average of 9 months for our Full Service process, including production. This estimate does not include a timeline specific to market, sell, and deliver your goods. Please note, supply-chain issues and other delays are possible and can extend this timeline.

  • We do our best to onboard work from other manufacturers whenever possible, but in order for us to maintain the highest quality service our team must review all outside work at minimum, and at most start again when necessary.

  • Rule DD works with mission-driven brands based all over the United State. We consider ourselves true partners to our clients. We seek to include and educate them across processes all while providing exceptional service and quality final products.
